So, what are the four things your property needs to be perfect?

Let’s find out!

You need:

  1. Consistent Mowing
  2. Weed Control
  3. Mulch
  4. Chinch Bug Removal

These four services are essential when it comes to having the perfect front or backyard here in Texas. Let’s dive a little deeper into each service to explain how it will help you achieve the perfect property!

What effect will mowing have on my turf?

Mowing your lawn is a very important part of maintaining the overall well-being of your turf. It ensures your grass can get the correct nutrients it needs to continue to stay healthy and flourish

Most people do not often consider that when you cut your lawn to its required height, it is for a reason. If your grass is at the same height all around, it makes it easier for you to water your lawn without having to worry about obstacles or other parts of lawn life, like taller grass, getting in the way and taking away the water or sunlight from the rest of your lawn.

The height and width of your lawn affect how air and other nutrients penetrate its roots to maintain the overall health and vitality of your turf. That is why mowing is a very essential service for your lawn and needs to be taken seriously. You cannot just mow for the sake of crossing something else off your checklist!

How do I rid my lawn of weeds?

Similarly, there are two ways to prevent weeds from forming (preemergents and fertilizer), and there are two ways to get rid of them:

  1. Post-emergent
  2. Manually

Post-emergents are a form of herbicide. There are many options to choose between when it comes to this product. It is highly recommended that you do your research prior to purchasing since the type of herbicide that is right for your lawn is dependent upon your individual property and its condition. The most recommended herbicide to use is the organic form. This is because some herbicides are said to be dangerous and toxic to you, your family, and your pets, while organic is not.

When it comes to the herbicide, make sure you apply it during a day where your pets and family can safely avoid it. The alternative and highly recommended first part of the removal process for weeds is to remove them by hand.

You want to prevent them from returning so you must pull the weeds, root and all! Pulling them up as soon as you spot them will help you to avoid the use of unnecessary herbicides. Of course, if you have a big property or are in a situation where you cannot manually remove them, call a professional like us for help!

How do I get rid of chinch bugs?

Chinch bugs feed on poorly maintained lawns that have compacted soil. So, the fast remedy to rid your property of them would be to take care of your lawn properly. With that said, here is a list we came up with that provide some remedy methods you can do to try and get rid of chinch bugs or stop them from coming back onto your property:

  • Replant insect-resistant grass
  • Aerate your lawn to remove your compacted soil
  • Eliminate the layers of thick thatch on your property
  • Do not over-fertilize your lawn.
  • Water your lawn correctly to avoid over-watering
  • Mow your grass to the correct height
  • Keep your soil moist to a depth of 2.5-3.5 inches.
  • Add limestone to your soil (agricultural)

If your lawn already has chinch bugs, it is recommended that you try to add soapy water to get rid of them.

What can mulch do for my property?

Mulch helps your lawn by allowing your soil to lock in moisture, prevent weeds from forming, limiting water runoff, and even reducing soil erosion. Mulch also reduces the impact of foot traffic on your lawn and can even add organic matter to your soil. Mulch will protect your trees, hedges, and shrubs from any threats from other plants, while also keeping mowers and possibly yourself away while doing its main job of keeping your landscape and lawn healthy. Mulch is definitely one of the essential services that provide a perfect property. It helps elevate other needed services and ensures your lawn remains healthy and can flourish all year long!
